Giving something back
Recently I discover that a lot of people around me are interested in photography, at my office as well as friends that I know. It seems to me that almost half of the people working in the IT field like to take pictures, with digital camera of course. For the rest who are not in IT, they started even earlier, during those days with film and dark room and stinking chemistry. Most of them fall in love with photography at university, or earlier. I can’t count all of them with my hands, imagine!
Not that I’m trying to show off myself, but most of them either have no clue about the basic concepts of photography (IT people), or aren’t able to make the switch to the digital era (the rest). Unfortunately I haven’t met one who is truely strong in this field, so that I can learn from him or her. As funny as it seems, it turns out that I’m becoming the reference for digital photography in my surrounding. I’ve been asked to give speech at office for at least 50 colleagues, and I’m surprised that none of them fall asleep while I talked.
Then, I thought to myself, how did I learn all this stuff? I don’t have a master to ask question, I only took one class of studio photography during a weekend (at Lozeau, Montreal), so far.
Then I realize that I learned all this stuff from the web, really! I’ve read books, and a great amount of magazines. But I’ve read more web pages and forums that I could remember, and learn a lot from all those ordinary people who share their passion freely, with great dedication and great precision! I want to thank all of them for being so generous.
So, as a give back (hey, Thanksgiving is almost here), I’m offering my digital photography courses online here. All you need is your browser, Internet Explorer 6 or higher is required. Let me know if you’ve learned something from it, what you like or don’t like. Thanks!
