Shanghainese [上海人家]
After a long year of waiting and waiting and waiting for the next generation of Canon EOS 5D to come out, I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy the 5D last week, at a very good price of ~2000$CA, no tax! When it was announced at Autumn 2005 the price was 3400$, so I think this is a good deal, even though there are new rumors every week about the announcement of 5D II this April or this September. Anyway, I’m out of that game for now, I’ll be happy at least for another year…
With much excitement, I went to the nearby Zhong Shan park [中山公园] to try it out, and beside, this is the first weekend where it’s comfortable enough to shoot outside. My aim was toward capturing the locals people, the way they live and entertain themselves, as well as capturing some long missed greenery. So, off I went with my brand new 5D and 24-70L lens which now becomes a fabulous wide angle zoom while losing a bit of the telephoto side, something’s gotta give!
At the entrance of the park, I was greeted by some impressive kungfu show, some sort of fancy taichi I guess. This is where a photo is worth thousand words. I heard them saying that they came from a distant city, like doing a tour show or something. It’s touching to see how ordinary people are so amazing sometime, and amazing people are so ordinary.

Walking around the park, it’s very pleasing to see how lively this park is. The people in there are just amazing. They do all kinds of things: kungfu, taichi, dance, sing, kite, bike, run, badminton, chess, cards, games, chat, boat, walk, roller-blade, etc, etc, etc. All those activities together in the same park, I simply loved what I saw!
